    thank you---i think quite a lot of people were feeling just depressed. definitely NOT celebratory. some idiot in our neighbourhood festooned the entry to our main drive with dozens of small (made in china, probably) flags, and i wanted to be sick. also, well, tacky... i wish a platoon of raccoons would come and carry them off in the night...
